X-Force, The Science of Free Flight follows the epic flight by New Zealand paragliding pilot Bryan Moore over the Southern Alps from Wanaka to the base of Mt. Cook, New Zealand's highest mountain.
Part of X Force, a 6 x 1hr series looking at the science and psychology behind extreme adventure, this programme follows Bryan and three other world class pilots (Rob Darby, Remo Stussi and Nicole Nussbaum) on their two-day vol bivouac flight over some of the most challenging terrain in the world. Fellow enthusiast Gavin Wills accompanies them in his sailplane Hawkwing. The fierce ambition of expert Bryan Moore is to paraglide from Wanaka to the base of Mount Cook, New Zealand’s highest mountain.
In the go-it-alone spirit of their quest, the team film their own journey into the heart of the Southern Alps over broad valleys, jagged peaks and huge glaciers. Exploring the technical, physical and psychological demands of cutting-edge paragliding exploration, The Science of Free Flight captures the danger and exhilaration of flying high on a simple nylon wing.
